Migrating to Mastadon
Like many people nowdays, I'm moving a lot of my activity to Mastadon. My main account is here: https://mas.to/@pgmjsd
Why?
I don't use Twitter very much, so it's not that really. Although, I do admit that my experience on Twitter lately hasn't been great.
Mostly, it's because:
- I don't like having all my data collected and used to drive "an algorithm" (I hate that term, but it's what everyone calls it) display content that I might be interested in.
- I don't like ads.
How's it going over there?
It's okay so far. Really. People say Mastodon is complicated. It isn't nearly as complicated as some make it out to be.
- What "server" do I chose? tl;dr - it doesn't really matter. Just pick one that has open sign-ups, and has good uptime. You can move to a different one later.
- But it's not telling me what to look at! Yep. That's the idea. Find hashtags and people to follow. Your feed will fill up.
